City Theatre is working cooperatively with the Skyway Marina District and Dr. Cody Clark to develop and produce an immersive supper club experience to celebrate Black History Month in February 2024.
This unique theatrical experience will take guests back in time to the iconic Cotton Club in NYC which operated from 1923 to 1940 during Prohibition and Jim Crow era racial segregation.
We are looking for background/atmospheric actors to play staff and some of the more famous patrons of the Club, nightclub musicians (either individual musicians or established groups), dancers, and strong vocalists.
We are particularly looking to cast performers of color who may physically, vocally or stylistically resemble popular black entertainers of the era such as musicians Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, or Fats Waller; vocalists Cab Calloway, Nat King Cole, The Dandridge Sisters, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, The Mills Brothers, Sarah Vaughn or Ethel Waters; and dancers such as Sammy Davis Jr., Katherine Dunham, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, or Earl Snakehips Tucker or other similar artists of the era.
